Hi, I'm Soozin. I play house music.

How did this whole thing start?

Well... I've been a dance music fanatic since as long as I can remember. When I was about 16 I got into clubbing, met a girl who introduced to the rave scene and some underground sounds. I was hooked from the start. I had always loved dance music, but I found a whole new world in the rave subculture. I never got into the drugs, I mostly went out sober and just danced all night long. After a couple years I started to get interested in DJing myself. I got involved with the Future Tribe Project when it was formed and met other scenesters who felt the same way I did about the music, scene, politics, drugs, everything. These are the people who truly inspired me and helped me grow musically. Finally in 2000, I left the college dorms for my own apt., and got myself some decks and a mixer. I moved to Gainesville that August....

Starting in January of 2002, thanks to my friend Pete(DJ Instinkt), I got a regular gig playing with him at Full Circle on Tuesday nights. Pete and I then started doing a monthly Friday event, all house and drum n bass. We had a great time together and so did all of our friends who would come hang out on our nights.

We continued thru the summer, then the owner decided it was time to change it up. Well.. not long after, the club was sold, redecorated, and changed to Bleu. The Full Circle bartender got me in to play 5 hours one night, and I continued to play there every week until I graduated in Dec 2002. During the same time period, I also played numerous Future Tribe events, and other clubs and various one-off's around Florida (check my past events page for info).

Now, I've moved back to South FL to work on my graduate degree(s), do the 9-5 thing, and of course continue to DJ. I currently hold a bi-weekly Friday night residency at the Chesterfield Hotel(Sunset Sessions), which we have been doing since Oct 2004, and have 2 weekly radio shows: Friday nights from 7-9pm on WNSU, Radio X 88.5 FM; and a global broadcast on Pulse Radio sunday nights 7-9pm EST. I also play other one off events and clubs in the area. Some appearances include Ft Lauderdale favorites Karma, Club X-IT, Lumonics, and Miami hot spots Blue, Voodoo, Nikki Beach, and others. Check the main page for more info on these events and other upcoming gigs!

What do I play?
A mix of stuff really. House music for sure, but a variety of styles. I like music that goes somewhere, makes you feel, think, or just groove. I like music with flavor and personality. I play tech, electro, tribal, deep, funky, progressive, and more beats. house sub genres. There is a good chance you will hear some Deee-Lite or Madonna flavor in one of my sets too. I will also drop some break beats, electro, or even old skool jams here and there. I like to mix it up and have fun!!! On the side I also like to play some downtempo and chill hip hop... Every now and then I'll even throw down some hardcore, but thats just at home....

Some other info..
I work at Nova Southeastern University in financial services. I have a BS in Psychology from U of Fla and recently finished my Masters in Environmental Education from NSU. I'm currently finishing up my 2nd MS in Coastal Zone Mgmt. I also work with (rescue) nesting sea turtles during the summer season.

I travel semi-regularly with my wildlife loving mother to strange places about once every 2 years or so. So far, we have been to Iceland, Ecuador, the Galapagos, Costa Rica and its rainforests, Churchill, Manitoba--100 miles off the Arctic Circle, Prince Edward Island off the east coast of Canada, the north Shetland Islands, Antarctica, and most recently Greenland. We are off to Baja, Mexico in spring 2006. I am lucky enough to have seen parts of this earth that many people never will and could not even imagine. This is an amazing, beautiful planet and we need to respect it, love it and take care of it!!
